Indikasi Geografis Indikasi Geografis (IG) merupakan suatu istilah geografis yang berkaitan dengan sebuah produk yang menunjukkan tempat atau daerah asal, mutu atau ciri-ciri produk tersebut serta mutu atau ciri-ciri yang disebabkan oleh karakter geografis atau manusia dari tempat asalnya. Menurut WTO, Indikasi Geografis adalah indikasi-indikasi yang dapat mengidentifikasikan bahwa suatu barang berasal dari seluruh wilayah negara anggota (WTO), atau suatu dareah atau bagian daerah tertentu di wilayah tersebut, di mana mutu yang dihasilkan, reputasi atau sifat-sifat lain barang tersebut dapat dicirikan secara mendasar terhadap asal geografisnya. Indikasi Geografis merupakan sesuatu yang baru dalam sistim perdagangan internasional, perlindungan indikasi geografis secara umum telah diatur dalam pasal 22, 23 dan 24 tentang TRIP (Trade Related Aspect of Intellectual Property Rights) agreement. Pada pasal 10 konvensi Paris yang menegaskan larangan untuk memperdagangkan barang yang menggunakan indikasi geografis sebagai objek hak kekayaan intelektual yang tidak sesuai dengan asal dari daerah atau wilayah geografis tersebut.
